You've been looking for someone you can trust To love you, again and again How do you love in a house without feelings? How do you turn what that savage take?
You've been looking for someone to believe in To love you, until your eyes run dry She lives on disillusion road We go where the wild blood flows On our bodies we share the same scar Love me, wherever you are How do you love with a fate full of rust? How do you turn what the savage take?

I need some help. I have two different issues and as no one has replied to my questions over at the Stormpowered forum I decided I would ask here. First, the issue I am having with Jutland.
The issues is that any Battle that I create using the Battle Scenario Editor automatically ends after 1 minute and a few seconds. I have thought about how the game Fighting Steel had a control for setting a time limit on how long a scenario will run but, unless I am missing something, I do not see any such feature in Jutland.
Anyone have an idea as to what might be causing this and how to fix it? The second issue is with Distant Guns 1.5 and quite simply it will not play. The opening video about the Battles of the Russo-Japanese War will play and then the game window with 'Distant Guns:The Russo-Japanese War at Sea, 1904-1905' up in the title bar will display but the window itself is just black with no interface.
That will stay up for a minuet or so during which the Task Manager says that it is running then it just shuts down. This is confusing the heck out of me because Jutland does run. Haven't been visiting the Stormpowered forum much so missed your post there. Its a bit quiet over at stormpowered at the minute - the usual crowd are a little dissapointed at the overselling of certain features in the addon when it was promised they were fixed or at least improved. Sadly that is not the case. Premature scenario ending is usually down to visibility - i.e. With nothing hostile in sight then the game ends.
Try putting the nearest forces within sight of each other and fiddle with the visibility / weather slider (ctrl F9 if i remember right) The black screen bug has been fixed - force an update of DG (right click on Dg under my games in stormpowered) should do it. Tanyrhiew over at stormpowered. 'Wee' Mac, Thanks for the comments. You were right about me putting the ships in Jutland to far apart. I am used to Fighting Steel, Warship Combat: Navies at War, Fleet Command and others where forces start out farther apart and you have to find them first.
Jutland apparently does not do it that way. Jutland is running great now.
However Distant Guns is another matter entirely. The force update did nothing. I got some help over at Storm Eeagle's readydesk customer support system. They have had me remove and reinstall Distant Guns and when that did not work I removed Jutland, Distant Guns, and StornPowered and then downloaded and installed them all again. StormPowered is now version 1.047 and Distant Guns is version 1.526. No change at all in what happens when I try and run Distant Guns. 07/18/11 05:20 PM Re: Seeking help on issues with Jutland and Distant Guns.
Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 742 Member Member Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 742. I managed to fix the issue. I was looking at the 'Distant Guns RJW Enhanced' and 'Jutland' folders in the 'Storm Eagle Studios' folder and noticed that they have most of the same stuff in them. However most of the the sub-folders in 'Jutland' have a 2 after them while the ones in 'Distant Guns' do not. So I ran en experiment and copped those folders and the DG specific files over to the 'Jutland' folder and then ran the DGRJWp.exe in the 'Jutland' folder and it ran just as it should, just with the Jutland splash screen but with the DG version number displayed in stead to the DG splash screen.
After that worked I created a new folder in the Storm Eagle Studios directory. I then moved the copies of the Battle Records, data, Installation Support, models, Music, Screenshots, Sound, and Textures folders to the new folder. Then copied everything not in a sub-folder from the Jutland folder to the new one as well. Removed the Jutland specific items and replaced them with their Distant Guns counterparts. Then I cut and pasted the official 'Distant Guns RJWEnhanced' folder to another directory and renamed the new folder 'Distant Guns RJWEnhanced'. Result Distant Guns now works. I did have an issue after I had done all of the above with StormPowered not recognizing Distant Guns and Jutland under the My Games tab however after uninstalling and reinstalling StormPowered it identified both of them perfectly and both of them now play.

I thought only full version updates are charged in the programming world. Sounds like a good way to keep your customers happy. So you'd be happier if they called it Distant Guns 2.0? If you call it 2.0 it implies a significant remake of the entire game engine. Like AGEOD's Birth of America (version1) and AGEOD's Birth of America II (version 2). I'm not used to paying the equivalent of a new game for an incremental bug fix.
And, frankly, I wouldn't get screwed twice if I bought version 1.0. On 12 mei, 02:57, DirkG wrote: [email protected] wrote: What am I missing?

Nobody will get fooled into buying this upgrade - all cards are on the table and I think that their fans can appreciate this.
Greetz, Eddy Sterckx.
I have both of these games because I've had a lifelong interest in warships of this period. Jutland is much better balanced than DG. One thing I don't like about DG is that in my opinion, the Russian Port Arthur Squadron's battlehsips, particularly Tsesarevitch and Retvizan, are undervalued compared to the Japanese predreadnoughts. At the Battle of the Yellow Sea, Tsesarevitch went toe-to-toe with Togo's Mikasa for hours, and was getting the better of the exchange until Admiral Vitgeft and his staff were killed by a lucky shot.
You can't do that in the game, because one on one, the Japanese ship will pound the Russian into powder, in minutes, every time. Russian gunnery was much better, according to Togo himself, than you see in game. I wish there was a difficulty slider you could apply just to one side in DG, so one could tune the battle to suit herself. Jutland, on the other hand, is simply fun. It's very well balanced. I did a duel just to test the game mechanics, between the American dreadnoughts New York and Florida and the German Kaiser and Kaiserin, with advanced criticals and poor ammo handling 'on.'
They only affect the Entente powers and not the Hochseeflotte ships. After two hours of slugging it out, New York's captain and executive officer were both dead, two 14' turrets were out of commission, and the ship had taken moderate damage including serious flooding and a list that had her speed slowed five knots off her top, but was still in it to win it. Florida lost her main director and was on local control, and had out of control fires that the damage comtrol parties were furiously battling. Kaiser's captain was dead, and the ship was fourteen minutes from sinking.
Kaiserin had two turrets out but was still hanging in the fight. You could see dozens of shell hits on the ships, it looked like British post-Jutland battle pictures. Tonight, I took the place of Admiral Franz Hipper, and led the battlecruisers of Scouting Group I into a clash with the Royal Navy's 3d BS, composed of HMS Dreadnought and five King Edward VII predreadnoughts. It was a 90-minute free-for-all, climaxing in a daring torpedo attack by the V-class destroyers and a toe-to-toe slugfest that left three of the German ships with light damage, HMS Britannia sunk by an explosion, and three of the other British battleships, including Dreadnought battered like the Germans but unbowed.
The German objective was to withdraw in good order to the Jade, accomplished with only the loss of three destroyers. Well balanced fight, and one that called for concentration and thought, I was tired after it was over. I crossed the British 'T' early on when i turned for the Jade, and it was SMS Derfflinger, pride of His Majesty's fleet, who racked up the kill on Britannia. One minute, she was steaming away from the fight at 9 knots, showing light damage; the next, she was gone and I missed it-nothing left but burning wreckage.
Jutland is definitely the better title for the investment. I tried the 3BS/SG I fight from the British side, and lost Dreadnought in seconds flat, and two of the King Edward VII predreadnoughts about 20 minutes later. They hung in better than I thought, but it amazes me that at under 8000 yards their gunnery was so bad and the German so good! 'There seems to be something wrong with our bloody ships today.and something wrong with our system.'

The battlecruisers were hardly scratched. Interesting; when I played as the Germans Seydlitz had her steering jammed and the others all were beat to yellow, and other than the one predreadnought the RN was in pretty much the same shape! I want to like Jutland, I really do, but I just keep getting disappointed. The movement is so obtuse, I just can't get used to it. Left click, right click, select your ships again, it just seems all over the place.

Also, playing as the British, I have not ever won a scenario. I am continually getting pounded to dust by the KM. I know a lot of research went into this game, but seriously, poor British gunnery was largely due to Beatty's Battlecruisers being shoddy marksmen. The RN was not far behind the Germans. Watching the shell cam in this game, first waaay short, then waay long, then way left, then BOOM a hit, and then it just resets itself and starts shooting way out there again. There is never a sense of 'got the range' in this game.
My understanding is ranging shots, followed by salvos, until a target is straddled and then it's off to the races. I understand that ranges/positions change, but in this game I can have two battleships running at 6 knots, at medium range, and it's like watching someone throw horseshoes blindfolded. Funny enough the Germans have no problem hitting me consistently. Sorry for the rant, but as much as it is frustrating, I just love those big steel monsters. 10/29/11 09:03 AM Re: Jutland v. like those in Jutland, i.e. Reducing gunnery accuracy to 20 and setting torpedo accuracy and effectiveness to 150. Then, Retvizan and Mikasa in a test duel. Much better result; a 30 minute slugging match broken up by an island getting in the way. As expected, Retvizan got the worse of it, but not by much. This might be a good adjustment to the game.
